In this post, we’ll introduce you to a special spot in the heart of Mong Kok, one of the busiest districts in Hong Kong. If you love plants and birds, the Mong Kok Flower Market and the adjacent Yuen Po Street Bird Garden are absolutely worth a visit.
The Mong Kok Flower Market is a vibrant street lined with over 30 flower and plant shops. You’ll find a wide variety of plants—from tiny succulents to large potted greenery—as well as fresh-cut flowers. Whether you’re looking for a small decorative plant for your home or a festive bouquet for a loved one, this market has something for everyone. During holidays and celebrations, the market is especially lively, offering themed floral arrangements and seasonal plants.
In addition to flowers and plants, the market also sells gardening supplies such as pots, tools, and packaged seeds (like tomatoes and flowers). If you’re planning to start your own garden, this is a great place to stock up on essentials.
At the end of Flower Market Road, you’ll find the Yuen Po Street Bird Garden, a unique and charming corner of the city where birds are sold as pets. If you’re a bird enthusiast, this garden is a must-visit. It features over 20 specialty bird shops offering a range of species—from small birds like parakeets, cockatiels, and lovebirds to larger ones such as mini macaws, African greys, and cockatoos.
During my visit, I saw a large cockatoo mimicking human speech—it was both impressive and amusing. In addition to birds, the garden also sells bird care supplies including cages, food, and even live treats like grasshoppers and worms.
