Get in Touch with Animals and Plants in a Busy City Hong Kong.

In this post, I am going to introduce to you a place in Hong Kong where it is a wetland reserve with educational and observation facilities which allow visitors to enjoy walking at the wetland and observes plants and animals. The place is called “Hong Kong Wetland Park”.

Hong Kong wetland parkThe Hong Kong wetland park is located at the Tin Shui Wai, a town at the Yuen Long District. Tin Shui Wai is a new town of Hong Kong which converted from the land of the country side to a new modern town mainly consists of residential area. The wetland park was actually a wet land before the development of Tin Shui Wai, it was preserved and turned into a education and tourism attraction after the development of Tin Shui Wai.

Hong Kong wetland parkThe Hong Kong wetland park consists of different sections, once you have entered the park, there is a visitor center where you could find display halls of animals’ models including sea animals such as turtles, craps, seahorse and land animals such as tigers, monkeys, snake, deer etc. They all look real which give you the feeling of being in nature with them and it is most likely the purpose of the halls with models of animal and background build exactly like the nature. There is also a big aquarium with topical fishes and corals in it, if you are a fish lover, you will spend time there.

Pui Pui the crocodile

Hong Kong wetland parkOnce you finished visiting the visitor center, it is time to go outdoor. The first thing you could see outdoor will be the “Pui Pui Home”. As the name is suggested, it is the home of “Pui Pui” which is a crocodile captured in Shan Pui River with a lot of effort. As in Hong Kong is rarely see crocodile, “Pui Pui” has become a celebrity quickly and was settled at the Hong Kong wetland park. It is difficult to see “Pui Pui” at her home as she always laying steadily under the tree which her color is similar to the trees. You might need to spend time to spot her.

 

The wetland

After seeing Pui Pui, it is time to see the wetland, the wetland has different plants, ponds and wetlands with animals. By following the path at the wetland, you will discover different types of plants and pond with clear water which you could see the fishes in it. There are some parts of the wetland where the path is unreachable, those area are preserved for birds and other animals’ habitats which you could observe them by using the build in telescope.  If you have camera, get your zoom lens ready to take photos of the birds at the wetland.  Not only plants, fishes and birds, there is also a butterfly garden which you could find butterflies there.

The place consists of 10000 square-metre, you could spend a day there walking around and enjoy the beautiful nature environment and fresh air at the busy city.
